010 04 01 00 ICAO Annex 1

010 04 01 01 Differences  between  ICAO  Annex  1  and  Regulation  (EU) No 1178/2011 (hereinafter: Aircrew Regulation)

(01) X Describe the relationship and differences between ICAO Annex 1 and the Aircrew Regulation.

The Aircrew Regulation adopts and builds on Annex 1.

010 04 02 01 Definitions

(01) Define the following:

Category,
For example; aeroplane, powered-lift, helicopter, sailplane, glider.
 class and type of aircraft,
Class; generally single pilot SEP or MEP. Type; larger more complex.
  cross-country,
Point of departure to point of arrival via a pre-planned route using standard navigation techniques.
 dual instruction time,
Flight time or instrument ground time from an authorised instructor.
 flight time,

Flight time – Aeroplanes. The total time from the moment an aircraft first moves for the purpose of taking off until the moment it finally comes to rest at the end of the flight.

Note 1. Flight time as here defined is synonymous with the term “block to block” time or “chock to chock” time in general usage which is measured from the time an aircraft moves from the loading point until it stops at the unloading point.

 student pilot-in-command (SPIC),
Where the instructor is an observer and does not manipulate the controls.
 instrument time,
Instrument flight or ground time.
 instrument flight time,
Solely by reference to instruments.

(02) Define the following:

multi-crew cooperation (MCC),
The functioning of the flight crews as at team led by PiC. It is discrete training.
multi-pilot aircraft, rating.
Part of approved course at an ATO.

010 04 02 02 Content and structure

(01) X Explain the structure of Part-FCL.

Broken into 11 sub-parts that define licences and ratings.

Explain the requirements to act as a flight crew member of a civil aircraft registered in a Member State,
Aquire and maintain sufficient relevant experience.
 and  know  thegeneral principles of the licensing system, (light aircraft pilot licence (LAPL), private pilot licence (PPL), commercial pilot licence (CPL), multi-crew pilot licence (MPL), airline transport pilot licence (ATPL)).
Applications for licence, ratings and certificates to the competent authority. Limitations may be attached. Only one licence may be held

(03) X List the two factors that are relevant to the exercise of the privileges of a licence.

(04) X State the circumstances in which a language proficiency endorsement is required.

If a pilot uses a radio they must have a language endorsement.

60-64; Must not act as PiC in CAT unless part of a multi-crew. 65+ Must not engage in CAT (Balloons and sail plains until 70)

(06) X Explain the term ‘competent authority’.

(07) Describe the obligation to carry and present documents (e.g. a flight crew licence) under Part-FCL.

Licence, medical, photo I.D. Students; evidence of authorisation(possible log book), outside EU territory; ICAO automatic licence validation and states party to this agreement.

010 04 02 03 Commercial pilot licence (CPL)

(01) X State the requirements for the issue of a CPL.

Age 18

Integrated:

  • 80 dual (can inc 5 instrument ground time)
  • 70 PiC
  • 20 X-coutry
  • 5 night
  • 10 instrument (5 in FNPT1, FTD 2, FNPT II or FFS.)
  • 5 in complex; 4 seater+ variable pitch prop and retractable gear.

Modular:

  • 100 PiC (20 X-country and VFR X-country >300nm with two full stop landings at different aerodromes.)
  • 5 night
  • 10 instrument – (5 in FNPT1, FTD 2, FNPT II or FFS.)
  • 5 in complex; 4 seater+ variable pitch prop and retractable gear.

(02) State the privileges of a CPL.

  • Same as LAPL or PPL
  • PiC of any aircraft engaged in operations other than CAT
  • PiC of single engine CAT
  • Co-pilot in CAT

010 04 02 04 Airline  transport  pilot  licence  (ATPL)  and  multi-crew  pilot licence (MPL)

 

(01) X State the requirements for the issue of an ATPL.

Age 21

Integrated:

  • 500 multi pilot
  • 500 PiC under supervision or 250 PiC or 250 inc 70 PiC and the rest u/s
  • 200 X-coutry with 100 as PiC or PiC u/s
  • 100 night
  • 75 instrument; not more 30 instrument ground time

010 04 02 05 Ratings

(01) State the requirements for class ratings, their validity and privileges.

Single pilot in an SEP or MEP. Valid for 1 year. Single engine 2 years.

(02) State the requirements for type ratings, their validity and privileges.

70 hours PiC for single pilot aircraft. 500 multi pilots. Multi engine 1 year, single 2 years.

(03) State the requirements for instrument ratings, their validity and privileges (instrument rating (IR), competency- based instrument rating (CB-IR) and en-route instrument rating (EIR)).

IR 200ft DH (multi-engine IR lower after specific training) 50 hours PiC, 10 hours in relevant aircraft. Valid 1 year

CBIR DH 200ft

EIR IFR in IMC en-route phase only. Valid in all airspace but not for approaches.

(04) State the requirements for other ratings, their validity and privileges according to Part-FCL.

Aerobatics – 40 hours flight time. ATO training. Limited to the category trained in.

Sailplane –  30 hours PiC with 60 T/O and Landings. ATO instruction.

Banner towing – 100 hours flight time 200 T/O and Landings as PiC. ATO training. 5 tows during previous 24 months.

Night – Theory, ATO training, 5 hours including 3 dual. 1 hour X-country of 27nm and 5 solo T/O and landing.

Mountain – Course completed within 24 months, revalidate by 6 mountain landings at two other fields or proficiency check.

Flight Test – CPL/IR, 1000 hours inc 400 PiC, ATO course.

Instructor – Can’t be bothered with this bit despite wanting to be one…
